Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum

Hey, guys!
Remember I told you about taking part in a great project, but  I kept it as a secret? Now I can tell you! The project is Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, which takes places in St Pete every June! Well, I'm not wealthy enough to be a real participant, but I might volunteer there. By volunteering I mean working really hard:) Since March till May there will be a preparatory course (lectures and trainings). today I attended the intro lecture and it makes me want to work there even more! We're going to learn everything about The Forum and its organizators, the way how LenEXPO (the biggest and the most prestigious place for  helding diferrent congresses in the city) system works, coordinting the work of mass media, business russian (or something like that, I didn't get it) and business etiquette. After completing the course we'll get the certificate, that veryfies the fact that we can organize international congresses very well - the dream of a person who studies International Management, I guess:) And also volunteers for Sochi 2014 will be picked out from the list of people, who has been working at this forum. Well, I'm not even going to speak about great base for networking:) Maybe I will meet the president or at least someone from Forbes Russia Top-100:)

These classes will be in the evening hours, so theoretically they won't interrupt my university activities. But getting back home at 10 p.m is not the thing I'm dreaming about. Hope it will worth it! The first (well, officially the second) class will be on 14th of March and my TOEFL test is on 19th, so everything is almost perfectly scheduled:) Participating at this forum is something that even my parents are approving of (which is such a rare thing! :D) I remember when I was at my last years of high school and there was something about this forum on TV, Dad told something like "Well, that's what students should do! Not just hanging out and going out to the clubs!" The only thing is, they are worried that I'll be too tired... Well, I'm worried about it as well....but I will try at least!

And also - tadam! - I have decided how my list of options for the exchange semester will look like!
1. Bocconi University in Milano
2. Rennes Business School in Rennes, France
3. Vienne University
4. NOVA University in Lisbon

Well, Vienne and Rennes can change places:) I don't speak neither french nor german, but french sounds nicer! At the same time there is a student dorm in Vienne and in Rennes you should rent by yourself, which is more confusing and a bit scary. Try to figure out this puzzle in the nearest future:)

Kisses,
Tanya

forever friends

Hello, everyone:)
How are you? I'm doing fine! Since the last post, I've moved to another room in the dorm - nicer one, cozier one, warmer one...and with better kitchen:)
Last Sunday I spend an amazing time with my best friend Darina! Walking around St. Pete, shopping in a new large mall in the city center (and running into a huge sale at ZARA:)), having lunch at a wonderful italian restaurant Il Patio and making plans for the future! making plans is our favorite part - we're imagining our future lives and everything looks so bright...dreams-dreams!:) I can say without doubts that Darina is my best friend. We've accidentally met 1,5 years ago and had no quarrels for all this time:) maybe because we are studying in different universities, so we usually meet once a week. So there is no time for unnecessary arguing:)
Tomorrow I'll have my Chinese class (finally!!!). So today I bought a very nice red folder for all the notes - the first step to success in studies:) And in the evening my friend and I are invited to a dinner in a new flat of my buddy (according to gsom program:)). Guys promised us home-made pizza, we'll check it tomorrow:)

Kisses,
Tanya

saturday and plans

Last weekend was crazy! First time in my life I've managed to lose my cell phone in a club!!! Don't remember how and when exactly...For half an hour I was looking for it everywhere, but... nothing! I guess I lost it, because everithing else was still at its own place. The phone was cheap and not very new....but I lost all the contacts,  all the texts, photos, music....:( Sad-sad-sad. Well, the club part was the last one on Saturday night:)
Before that we went to the cuban restaraunt with friends, had a lot of fun and ate a really delicious food:) Thanks Nastya for the photos again:) Then we went to the house party at french guys' flat, spent several hours there and I really enjoyed it.

Also my Chinese classes will start next Friday! It was a long break in my studies, practically half of a year.... now I have to revise everything in a week!
Yesterday I applied for participation in a very interesting project! Hope everything will work out! If so, I get a lot of new important connections, experience and some money :) When everything will start officially, I'll tell you all about it!

Kisses,
Tanya

the summary of the week

Hey, guys! Sorry for such a long silence in this blog :)
I've got a lot of news! New semester has officially started 3 days ago and I spend half of a day (or maybe even more) at the uni. Well, at least now it's not that dark outside when I'm going to the university and back home, that means than spring is close and it makes me feel happy:)
This semester we are working on a course project in a group of four students and I'm really amazed by my so-called colleagues! We are making a nice team - two girls from Marketing, a girl from Finance and I - from International Management! The professor played a mean joke during the class: "It's better, when a team represents different  faculty's departments. Guys from Finance are good in calculating, guys from Marketing are creative and International Managers...well, they also can be useful!" Well, we've already got used to this joke and even are kidding about it by ourselves ;) So, we have to pick up a type of business from the list.  I'll tell you our type of business, when everything will be settled.
A little about all my foreign languages ;) My Chinese classes will start in a week. At least, I hope that it will be no delays! I miss this language and it will be a pitty, if I give up these studies after two semesters! My first Spanish class after the winter break was on Thursday! I like it so much! Or me gusta espaƱol mucho ;) Spanish sound like there is a stream of emotions, simply amazing! But the language I'm worried about most  is English. Well, not worried yet, but I'm spending half of my free time practicing it. I'm taking TOEFL exam in a month and have to do my best. So, in the morning on my way to classes I'm listening to The New York Times podcasts, during boring classes reading 400 essential words for TOEFL, talking in English with the exchanger when I'm standing in a queue in the canteen and watching Lie To Me with the subtitles:) From time to time I'm checking my progress by taking trial tests (thanks to my friend Julia fot the CD!) and I'm really satisfied with the results! Hoping for the best! Not 676 of 676, but close to it is my aim right now:)
Also I got two letters with the internship offers.  Not for me directly, Career Centre is just spreading the info. One is HR trainee in a very good hotel in the centre of the city and the other one in  the insurance company, which works with Gazprom)  the duties are not clearly mentioned, some work with papers and coffee, as I understood it) I'd love to give it a try, but now I'm too busy with TOEFL and exchange application. Hope it will be another nice opportunity later!
I'm still have time for partying:) The photos here are from the club where we were on last Satirday night. The best photos are always the ones I don't remember posing at)) On Monday we went out to a nice bar for cocktails, really great place! the bar was almost empty, so it was like a private party:) The name of the bar is Daikiri bar, check it out once you'll be in St. Pete:) And tomorrow we are going to the cuban restaraunt with my friends and then to the housewarming party of French guys who happily moved out of the dorm into a nice appartment! It gonna be crazy, 40 people already "attending" on Facebook event and I'm not actually sure how big the flat is...) well, anyway it will be a lot of fun!
I'll keep you posted!

Yours,
Tanya.

P.S. and it's really cold!!! -16 or something like that and it will be the same for a week at least! wish I were somewhere where it's warm! at least above zero!!! :D

the beginning

The idea of creating a blog in English came into my mind long time ago. First of all, I was inspired by Chiara Ferragni and Andy Torres! Then I met a lot of wonderful people who unfortunately don't speak Russian and are unable to read my blog in Russian (they are not satisfied with the results of google-translating as well) and i can't blame them for these :) Instead of it I'm following their advice and creating the blog in a language, which help people from all over the world become friends. So, from now, my dear friends, you can find out what's new in my life just by clicking the link ;) You are also welcome to express your opinion about what is written there in comments or on facebook, sending me a message! (p.s. editing my mistakes in English will be also a favor!)

For those, who has found this blog accidentally and doesn't know me in person! My name is Tanya , i'm 18 years old. I'm studying International Management at GSOM of Saint-Petersburg State University and live in a Northern Capital of Russia. I like learning foreign languages, reading books, partying with my friends and sometimes I really enjoy cooking!

So, let's see how long I'll be able to keep writing here!

Kisses,
Tanya
